Smart R Linear Power Supplies 12VDC and 24VDC
The most commonly "under-specified" aspect of an installation is the power supply unit and as a system is only as good as the weakest link it does not make sense to specify inferior quality power supply units.
An important point to remember for powering proximity or smart card readers is that the readers rely on their own RF (Radio Frequency) radiation to operate correctly. Historically, cheaper "switch mode" power supplies could emit RF interference which could degrade card-read performance. Good quality "linear" power supplies were the order of the day until cleaner and more efficient switch mode technology was refined in Britain by Dycon.

Smart R Top Tip: When specifying a power supply please remember to allow sufficient power for all devices, loss of power over cable runs AND for the battery charging circuit.
