HID iCLASS Readers operate at 13.56 MHz to allow fast communication of larger amounts of data than is possible with traditional 125 KHz proximity technology in the time it takes to present a card to a reader.

iCLASS was the first 13.56 mHz contactless smart card technology designed specifically for physical access control and offers the choice of standard keys to protect the card ID data, custom keys which are managed by the system supplier, or iCLASS Elite which is controlled by the end user and managed by HID as an additional secuirty measure 
 
iCLASS readers are available as "read-only" for simple applications or as "read/write" versions for more complex applications where card data may need to be changed when a card is presented. For example, cashless trading/vending applications will read from, and write to, the card in order to update an "electronic purse" to remove or reduce the need for cash handling on site.

For a transition strategy, HID's MultiCLASS reader models combine 13.56MHz iCLASS and HID 125KHz Prox technology within a single reader housing to enable a smooth transition of technology from prox to iCLASS.

HID's iCLASS readers provide a solution when smartcard technology is needed to host multiple applications on a single card e.g. access control and cashless vending, or the enhanced security of data encryption and mutual authentication is required.
 
The R10 model is the smallest reader in the iCLASS family and so is the optimum choice for mullion-mounted door installations.

The R15 model is the second-smallest reader in the iCLASS family and features the same mounting dimensions as the MiniProx™ proximity reader to allow for an easy direct replacement / upgrade.  Like the shorter R10, it is also a viable choice for mullion-mounted door installations.

Using 13.56 MHz contactless smart card technology, the RKL55 iCLASS® LCD/Keypad reader and RWKL550 Reader/Writer provides users with enhanced interaction at the door.
 
Combining contactless card presentation with a personal identification number (PIN), these readers provide a second layer of authentication for higher security. The RKL55 and RWKL550 include an LCD screen and function keys for real-time user feedback, further expanding system versatility at the door.
 
The RKL55 ¹optionally features HID Advanced Device Protocol (HADP)/Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP), combined with the power of iCLASS, to push user interaction and system functionality to the extreme. Ideal for wide variety of applications, including time and attendance, vending and point-of-sale, these readers display² total hours worked, cash on card balances and employee name and account balances prior to and after application transactions.
 
The backlit graphical LCD display offers a 60 x 18 mm viewing area, 120 x 32 resolution. It is factory preset to provide written instructions to the user. Fully customizable, the display also describes the function of the user function keys.

Using 13.56 MHz contactless smart card technology, the bioCLASS™ reader provides users with new options for supporting multi-authentication of identity. Combining contactless card presentation with a fingerprint biometric, the bioCLASS can also be used with personal identification numbers (PIN).
 
Storing the fingerprint template only on the smart card and never transmitting the information to an external host, users benefit from the increased security, faster throughput, easier system management, lower costs for the biometric reader and reduced concerns over individual privacy.
  • Three levels of security to choose from: card and PIN; card and fingerprint; card, PIN and fingerprint
  • Fingerprint templates are stored on the iCLASS® smart card to alleviate privacy and database management concerns
  • LCD display provides feedback on user finger placement and defines custom menu keys
  • PC software-based programmer (p/n CP575A) allowing fingerprint and PIN template enrolment is available as an accessory (call for details)

The 6180xxR Field reader / enroller can be configured to operate in one of three modes; dual-purpose reader/enroller, single-purpose enroller-only or read-only.  It provides additional field configuration options allowing for selection of language (choose from 9 languages), administration rights (store rights on card or in reader) and template storage location (small templates fit anywhere on iCLASS® cards).  The Field Enroller comes with multilingual quick start guide and English instructional CD.

iCLASS™ and iCLASS SE RK40, RPK40 and RWK400 iCLASS™ Keypad Readers
 
The iCLASS Keypad readers are compatible with any access control system using the SIA Wiegand interface. Both keypad and card data are transmitted via the Wiegand outputs. The RWK400 can also be connected to a PC or microcontroller for read/write operation using the reader serial port, which provides either an RS-232 or RS-485 interface.
 
The iCLASS Keypad Reader is also capable of local PIN verification at the reader, when the PIN code is programmed into the iCLASS card at the factory or in the field, using the iCLASS Card Programmer. This allows Card + PIN code to be used with panels without PIN capability, or with panels which only provide 2 of 7or 3x4 matrix keypad inputs.
 
Keypad Output
A variety of keypad outputs are available. Options include outputs of 4-bit, 8-bit (Dorado), 4-bit with parity, 26-bit output, 4-keys with parity and local pin verify.
